Американская ассоциация пенсионеров (негосударственная некоммерческая организация, провозглашающая своей целью «служение интересам людей старше 50 лет»; занимается изучением проблем пожилых людей, информированием и обучением, защитой их интересов и т. п.; создана в 1958 г. на основе Национальной ассоциации учителей на пенсии; в настоящее время насчитывает более 35 млн членов (примерно половина всего населения США старше 50 лет); поскольку для вступления в ассоциацию не обязательно быть пенсионером, более 40% членов ассоциации продолжают в той или иной степени работать; в связи с этим обстоятельством в качестве названия ассоциации была оставлена только аббревиатура AARP)See:Англо-русский экономический словарь > American Association of Retired Persons
